Ex-Kano governor Gaya resigns from APC

Former Kano State governor and ex-Senator representing Kano South, Kabiru Gaya, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).Gaya conveyed his decision in a letter addressed to the APC ward chairman of Gaya Arewa in Gaya Local Government Area of Kano State.The former governor said his resignation, which takes immediate effect from April 5, 2026, followed careful reflection and consultations, adding that it was taken in the best interest of his constituents and in line with his personal convictions.“It has been an honour to serve under the platform of the party, particularly during my tenure as a Senator from 2015 to 2023,” he said.Gaya expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities and support he enjoyed over the years, noting that he remained grateful for the trust reposed in him.He, however, said he had decided to step aside from the party at this time, while thanking members for their cooperation and camaraderie throughout his political career.
