Just In: Kwara APC Chairman’s Wife, Daughter Abducted in Patigi
Gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The victims, identified as Hajiya Fatima and her daughter, Amina, were seized on Sunday night when a five-man gang reportedly scaled the fence of Swasun’s residence in the Sakpefu area of Patigi.
Witnesses said the attackers shot sporadically to scare residents before breaking into one of the rooms, where they found the chairman’s wife and daughter, and whisked them away at gunpoint.
A party executive, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.
“It’s true. Our chairman’s wife and daughter were kidnapped last night. He told me he narrowly escaped as the gunmen stormed his compound, shooting into the air before taking the victims away,” he said.
Residents said the assailants operated for several minutes before fleeing with the victims to an unknown location.
The abduction adds to a series of kidnappings in Patigi and other parts of Kwara North in recent months, with locals repeatedly calling for stronger government and security interventions.
When contacted on the development, Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
