The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, has endorsed Governor Alex Otti for a second term in office, citing what he described as “unmatched achievements” across key sectors of the state’s economy.
Emeruwa made the declaration at an endorsement event organised by the Vanguard Movement for Continuity (VMC) in Owerrinta, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, where stakeholders rallied support for Otti’s re-election bid ahead of 2027.
Representing the governor at the event held at Adventist Technical Secondary College (ASTEC), the Speaker said Otti’s performance has redefined governance in the state, adding that ongoing development projects span multiple sectors simultaneously.
“His scorecard is unmatched. Even the opposition cannot deny the transformation taking place.
Confidence is returning, and many Abians are coming back home to invest,” Emeruwa said.
He described the governor as a transformative leader, insisting that continuity is critical to sustaining the gains already recorded.
In his remarks, leader of the VMC and General Manager of the Abia State Debt Management Office, Kingsley Nwaigburu, said the group was mobilising support to ensure the consolidation of reforms initiated by the current administration.
He listed key achievements to include the clearance of salary and pension arrears, improvements in healthcare and education infrastructure, road rehabilitation, enhanced security, and policies aimed at attracting investment.
The event also featured the presentation of a book titled “Threats to Societal Values and Advancement” by Fineboy Joseph, a lecturer at Clifford University. The author attributed the work to growing concerns over moral decline, including drug abuse, cultism and corruption, while proposing solutions to address the trend.
Vice Chancellor of the institution, Chimezie Omeonu, described the publication as timely and urged stakeholders to embrace its message.
Meanwhile, political momentum around Otti’s second-term ambition appears to be gaining traction, with multiple groups declaring support.
In a related development, a pro-Otti group, Alex Otti 4+4 Movement, announced the launch of a statewide grassroots mobilisation campaign to galvanise voter support ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Chairman of the group, Hon. Chibueze Okah, said the initiative is aimed at sustaining what he called the administration’s strides in governance, economic reform and development.
According to him, the group’s activities will include voter education, registration drives, monitoring of government projects for accountability, and advocacy for economic growth.
He expressed confidence that the governor would consolidate on current achievements if given another mandate, urging residents to support the continuity agenda.
