Ministers Applaud First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s 65th Birthday Gift to Education

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, and the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, have praised First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for dedicating her 65th birthday to advancing education through donations to the National Library Fund instead of accepting personal gifts.

In a statement issued by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education, the ministers described the gesture as “a remarkable act of generosity and vision” that reflects the First Lady’s lifelong commitment to education and her belief in the transformative power of knowledge.

They emphasized that reviving the National Library Fund is crucial to Nigeria’s transition from a resource-dependent to a knowledge-driven economy. The National Library, they noted, goes beyond being an institution, serving as “a vital symbol of learning, opportunity, and progress for generations to come.”

According to the statement, the initiative also aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places education at the heart of national development. The administration, it stressed, is determined to provide improved learning environments across all levels of education to equip Nigerian youths with the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

Reaffirming their commitment to this mission, the ministers urged Nigerians across public and private sectors, civil society, and individuals to support the National Library Fund as a shared investment in the nation’s future.
