The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed 1,803 personnel, along with operational assets, across churches and recreational centres to ensure a safe and peaceful 2026 Easter celebration.The Command said the move is part of proactive efforts to strengthen security and protect residents and worshippers throughout the festive period.Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, explained that the deployment features increased visibility policing, intelligence-driven operations, and coordinated vehicular and foot patrols aimed at preventing crime and responding swiftly to any threats.She added that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) units have also been mobilised to carry out routine sweeps of key public and recreational locations to avert potential security risks.Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the FCT, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, extended Easter greetings to Christian faithful, urging residents to uphold peace, unity, and mutual respect during the celebrations.He also called on citizens to remain law-abiding, while encouraging religious leaders to continue promoting messages of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property before, during, and after the festivities, and appealed for continued public cooperation with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free celebration.Residents were further advised to report any suspicious activities through designated emergency lines, including 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and the Complaint Response Unit on 08107314192.
