The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that Akwa Ibom State will deliver the highest number of votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-South geopolitical zone during the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made the remark on Tuesday during a meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders held at the Government House in Uyo, where Governor Umo Eno formally consulted party leaders on his re-election bid.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, the Senate President described Governor Eno as a “peaceful and humble leader” whose inclusive governance style, he said, had strengthened political unity in the state.
He noted that the governor’s approach to leadership and stakeholder engagement had positioned Akwa Ibom as a stronghold for the ruling APC ahead of the next elections.
“The event of today shows that Governor Eno is a peaceful governor, a man of God in words and deeds. His disposition and ability to carry everybody along gives us confidence that Akwa Ibom will deliver the highest votes for the President in the South-South,” Akpabio said.
He also commended the governor for what he described as visible development projects across the state, including the completion of previously abandoned infrastructure and new investments in public facilities.
Akpabio further praised the recent commencement of international flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport, describing it as a major milestone for the state’s economy.
According to him, Akwa Ibom people and the state government remain appreciative of President Tinubu’s support in his emergence as Senate President, adding that the appreciation would be reflected in the 2027 polls.
The Senate President maintained that the combination of political stability and developmental strides in the state would translate into strong electoral support for the ruling party in the next general elections.
