The All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Committee for the Rivers State House of Assembly elections has dismissed reports circulating online claiming that a list of cleared and disqualified aspirants for the 2027 elections had been released.
The party described the list as false, unauthorised and not issued by the screening committee or any recognised party authority.
Reports had earlier emerged alleging that 98 aspirants were screened by the committee, with 65 aspirants reportedly linked to Governor Siminalayi Fubara said to have been disqualified, while 33 loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, were allegedly cleared.
However, in a disclaimer issued on Monday, the secretary of the screening committee, Hon. Tanko Yamowa, denied the authenticity of the publication.
According to the statement, the screening exercise conducted by the committee headed by Rt. Hon. Muraina Ajibola was concluded less than 24 hours earlier and no official result had yet been released.
“The attention of the party leadership has been drawn to the circulation of a purported list of cleared and uncleared aspirants for the Rivers State House of Assembly currently making rounds across various media platforms.
“We wish to categorically state that the said publication is false, unauthorized, and does not emanate from the appropriate party authorities,” the statement read.
The committee stressed that the APC remains guided by laid-down procedures and timelines in handling matters relating to screening outcomes and publication of results.
It urged party members, aspirants and supporters to disregard the alleged list, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers seeking to create confusion and tension within the party.
The statement further assured stakeholders that the party would maintain transparency, fairness and due process throughout the exercise.
