ADC Inaugurates Borno Exco, Sets Sights on 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Borno State has inaugurated a new set of state executive members following a consensus-based congress held in Maiduguri.

Hon. Kolo Bukar, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, emerged as the new ADC State Chairman through the consensus arrangement concluded last Saturday.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Barwee Luxury Suites in the Gomari Airport area of Maiduguri, drew key party stakeholders, including the state leader of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Kashim Imam Matawalle.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the State Congress Committee, Hon. Musa Haliru, said the committee worked extensively over the past week to build consensus among members, ensuring a smooth and peaceful process.

“The elections were conducted peacefully and in accordance with the party’s constitution and relevant laws,” Haliru said, congratulating the newly elected state and ward executives.

He urged the new leadership to promote transparency, unity, and inclusiveness within the party to position it for victory in the 2027 general elections.

Addressing party members, Alhaji Kashim Imam Matawalle said the exercise underscored the ADC’s commitment to internal democracy and good governance.

“These elections, carried out in line with the provisions of the law and the party’s constitution, reflect the ADC’s enduring commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law,” he stated.

He commended members for their orderly conduct during the congress and stressed the need for collective effort to drive change, adding that many Nigerians are dissatisfied with the current administration at all levels.

In his acceptance speech, the new State Chairman, Hon. Kolo Bukar, expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for the confidence reposed in him and his team.

He pledged to run an open and inclusive administration aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and mobilising support to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.

Other members of the newly inaugurated executive include Barrister Abdu Jidda as Deputy Chairman, Mallam Musa Ngulde as Secretary, Baba Ahmed Mustapha as Publicity Secretary, and Maryam Ibrahim as Women Leader, among others.
