The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections for House of Representatives seats in Borno State ended with 9 out of 10 federal constituencies in the state, adopting the consensus option, with candidates affirmed at designated centres across their constituencies.

However, the primary for Maiduguri Metropolitan Federal Constituency was conducted through direct voting across the 15 wards in the constituency.

The incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency, Hon. Kadiri Rahis, emerged victorious after winning in all 15 wards, defeating his challenger, Engr. Mohammad Kachalla.

Lawmakers and candidates affirmed through the consensus arrangement include Hon. Usman Zanna for Gubio/Kaga/Magumeri Federal Constituency; Hon. Ahmed Satomi for Jere Federal Constituency; and Hon. Tarpaya Asarya for Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency.
Others are Hon. Ahmed Jaha for Gwoza/Chibok/Damboa Federal Constituency; Hon. Bukar Talba for Monguno/Marte/Nganzai Federal Constituency; Muktari Aliyu Betara for Biu/Shani/Kwayakusar Federal Constituency; Dr. Kaumi Umara Zulum for Mafa/Konduga/Dikwa Federal Constituency; Hajia Fati Kakenna for Guzamala/Kukawa/Abadam/Mobbar Federal Constituency; and Alhaji Mustapha Abdullahi Babani for Bama/Ngala/Kala-Balge Federal Constituency.

Party sources said the outcome of the primaries reflects ongoing political realignments within the APC in Borno, as several serving lawmakers were unable to retain the party’s endorsement for another term.
