The Medical Director of the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri, Dr. Shehu Muhammad, has raised alarm over a critical shortage of blood at the facility following casualties from recent airstrikes in Jilli village.
Dr. Muhammad disclosed on Sunday that at least 21 victims have been admitted to the hospital after the Air Component operations in Jilli.
He said while medical personnel are working tirelessly to stabilise patients, many of the injured urgently require blood transfusions.
“We are appealing to members of the public to donate blood, as most of the victims brought in from Jilli need immediate transfusion,” he said.
The hospital management stressed that prompt blood donations are crucial to saving lives as efforts continue to treat those affected.
