ADC crisis: Amupitan out to crown Tinubu President in 2027 – CSO

A coalition of civil societies in Osun State, Network of Civil Society Groups, has disclosed that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan is working to make President Bola Tinubu a second term President without serious contenders.

Speaking on behalf of the groups in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Thursday, Comrade Yaya Ademola said with the actions of INEC Chairman, the group doubt if the commission can organise a free and credible election in Ekiti and Osun State in June and August respectively.

He said the commission’s chairman has turned himself into the willing tool of President Bola Tinubu to undermine the opposition to gain advantage in the 2027 general elections in the country.

“He (Amupitan) was not patient to reveal his attitude, he is handpicked by Tinubu and has shown that he is the President’s agent and will do Tinubu’s bidding at all times, so don’t expect any Free fair and credible Election in Nigeria.

He is going to crown Tinubu, he is an agent of APC”.”And if that happens, it is a recipe for crisis, I don’t want that at my age, I should be protesting that military must go again.

We must manage this democracy to avoid truncating it through selfish actions. The worst military we had gave us two political parties, NRC and SDP, this civilian regime was an opposition political party against PDP, and they came in, they don’t want other opposition party.

It’s not done, it is not acceptable, we are going to fight, going to resist it.Earlier, the group tasked INEC to obey existing laws, reiterating that internal party matters should not be subjected to external interference.

“The so-called internal crisis in ADC is a manufactured conflict designed solely to cripple a viable opposition platform.

All decisions taken by ADC organs followed due process, and no objections were raised at any stage by those now sponsoring disruptions“When institutions become tools of political manipulation, democracy stands on the brink of collapse.

INEC must respect the legal boundaries set by the courts and refrain from meddling in affairs that are strictly the business of political parties”, he added.

They also warned that any attempt to manipulate the forthcoming Osun gubernatorial election would face stiff resistance from the people.

Again, Amupitan cannot conduct free and fair election in Osun and Ekiti states, he is going to crown APC, he is an agent of APC.

Any effort to force a preferred candidate on the electorates in these states will be met with lawful but unshakeable resistance”, Ademola added.
