The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party aligned with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disowned the recent opposition summit in Ibadan, declaring that it will not participate in any coalition that requires it to adopt another party’s presidential candidate.
Speaking in Abuja, the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said those who attended the summit did so without the party’s approval.
“The same applies to Saturday’s opposition summit in Ibadan. Members of the PDP who were there attended not in the name of the party because we never authorised them,” he said.
He warned against engaging with individuals outside the party’s official structure.
“Anybody discussing with aggrieved members of the PDP is doing so through the black market,” he added.
While not ruling out future collaboration, he made it clear that the PDP would field its own candidate.
“We will field a presidential candidate, the PDP is not going to adopt any candidate of any other political party in 2027,” he said.
He also criticised the summit for lacking clarity.
“What the opposition summit in Ibadan failed to disclose is under which platform they will field their single presidential candidate,” he noted.
The faction further dismissed the meeting’s outcome as ineffective, predicting its collapse
