The Accord Party has demanded immediate clarification from key opposition figures over what it described as the unauthorised use of its identity during the recent opposition summit in Ibadan, warning of possible legal action.
National Chairman of the party, Prof. Chris Imumolen, raised the alarm over the alleged inclusion of the party’s name and symbols in coalition discussions it insists it never authorised.
In a statement signed by the National Secretary, Muktar Abdallah, the party gave a 48-hour ultimatum to political actors including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Senator David Mark, Rauf Aregbesola, Governor Seyi Makinde, and a faction of the PDP.
“The Accord Party will protect its identity and independence,” Imumolen declared.
He described the development as deliberate misrepresentation rather than an oversight.
“This is not an oversight; it is a misrepresentation. The Accord Party will not be dragged into alliances it neither negotiated nor approved,” he said.
The party insisted it is not part of any coalition arrangement involving the PDP, ADC or any other bloc.
“You cannot borrow legitimacy by force. Those responsible must either explain themselves or prepare to defend their actions in court,” he warned.
Accord Party also questioned the credibility of the coalition, noting that using the identity of non-participating parties raises concerns about transparency.
