Dangote Warns Truckers Against Illegal Use of Logo, Vows Legal action
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a fresh warning to truck operators against the unauthorised use of its company logo, stressing that offenders will face legal consequences.
According to a statement, the company noted that despite repeated cautions, some truckers unaffiliated with Dangote continue to brand their vehicles with its logo for personal gain or other undisclosed reasons. It expressed concern that such acts have caused embarrassment to the company, with some of the trucks implicated in incidents wrongly linked to its fleet.
“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity,” the company said in a statement.
Dangote also raised alarm over the spread of misinformation, particularly the false attribution of road accidents to its trucks. It urged the public and media to verify facts before publication and cautioned against those exploiting accidents for malicious or financial motives.
The group operates one of Africa’s largest commercial fleets, with more than 12,000 trucks in Nigeria, including over 3,000 owned by third-party contractors. On average, 6,000 vehicles are active daily, supporting its vast logistics operations and creating over 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Dangote reaffirmed its commitment to safety and compliance, citing close collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulators. It added that continuous training, audits, and global best practices are being adopted to strengthen its fleet operations.
