The Rivers State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers accused of luring and abducting a 24-year-old woman they met on a dating site.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the suspects — Ifeanyi Chukwu Alozie, 25, from Okomoko in Etche Local Government Area, and Miracle Nwimene, 25, from Zakpo in Khana LGA — were arrested following a swift police operation.
According to Iringe-Koko, the suspects allegedly lured the victim to Igbo-Etche on September 21, 2025, where they kidnapped her and later collected ₦200,000 ransom from her family before setting her free.
“Following actionable intelligence on September 22, operatives of the Special Operations and Intelligence Team (SOIT) tracked the suspects to their hideout in Egwi community, Etche, around 10:00 p.m., where both were arrested,” the statement read.
She added that the duo confessed to the crime during interrogation and were linked to a notorious gang responsible for several kidnapping incidents in Etche and its environs.
“The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue, while efforts are underway to apprehend other members of the gang still at large,” Iringe-Koko stated.
