ADC Alleges Fresh Move to Revoke Abuja Venue Licence, Insists Convention Will Hold Today…Party accuses FCT authorities of pressure, vows to proceed despite threats

The African Democratic Congress (African Democratic Congress) has alleged a fresh attempt to revoke the operating licence of its Abuja convention venue, warning that the move is aimed at stopping its national convention scheduled for today.

The party claimed that despite paying all required fees and concluding arrangements for the event, pressure was being mounted on the venue operator to withdraw its booking.

National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the owner of the Rainbow Event Centre informed the party that he had come under pressure from the Federal Capital Territory authorities over the planned convention.

“After paying all the fees required, setting up for our convention tomorrow, the owner of Rainbow Event Centre has just informed us that he has come under pressure from the FCDA and Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, that if he allows the ADC the use of his facilities, his licence will be revoked,” Abdullahi said.

He insisted that the party had a valid and binding agreement with the venue and that preparations for the convention had already been concluded.

“But we have already signed the contract with him.

We will hold our convention tomorrow as planned at the Rainbow Event Centre,” he added.

Despite the alleged pressure, the ADC maintained that it would proceed with its national convention as scheduled, describing the situation as an attempt to frustrate its activities.

“We will not bow to this creeping tyranny. And definitely not to this petty tyrant,” Abdullahi stated. However, in a firm update later reaffirmed by party officials, the ADC insisted that the convention will go ahead today as planned, regardless of the reported threats.

The development heightens tensions around the event, setting up a possible standoff as the opposition party moves forward with its convention under what it describes as external pressure.
