The Port Harcourt Area II Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has recorded a significant boost in revenue generation, achieving a 104.45 per cent increase in its 2025 revenue performance with a total collection of ₦731.2 billion.

In a statement issued by the Command Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Customs, Theophilus Duniya, the Customs Area Comptroller, Aliyu Alkali, attributed the outstanding performance to the effective leadership and policy direction of the Comptroller-General of Customs, as well as the deployment of the indigenous Unified Customs Management System (B’ODOGWU) platform, which has enhanced faster cargo clearance.

Comptroller Alkali noted that strict adherence to standard operating procedures, sustained discipline among officers, and continuous engagement with stakeholders also played key roles in the achievements recorded so far.

He expressed appreciation to the management of the Nigeria Customs Service for providing an enabling environment that supported the Command’s success, while also commending the cooperation and synergy received from critical stakeholders.

Alkali further praised officers of the Command for their professionalism and patriotism, stating that their uncompromising stance contributed to the interception of 75 containers with a cumulative Duty Paid Value of ₦47.6 billion.

According to him, 30 of the 75 intercepted containers were found to contain expired, illicit, and unregistered pharmaceutical products, while others were seized for violations of various provisions of the Customs laws.

He added that the seizures would serve as a strong deterrent to would-be violators.

The Comptroller urged importers and licensed customs agents to make honest declarations, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to facilitating legitimate trade while enforcing customs regulations in line with the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
