Fresh NAF airstrike Neutralizes over 15 Terrorist Hideouts in Sambisa, Zuwa
Abuja — The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has intensified pressure on insurgents in the North-East, as a new wave of precision airstrikes wiped out more than 15 terrorists and flattened strategic hideouts in the Sambisa Forest.
The operation, carried out on September 3 under Operation Hadin Kai, targeted a newly identified enclave west of Zuwa believed to be a hub for fighters and field commanders responsible for recent attacks around Bitta.
According to NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the carefully executed strikes not only neutralized the terrorists but also destroyed key structures critical to their operations.
“This mission reflects the NAF’s ability to deliver decisive airpower in support of ground forces. It sends a clear message to terrorist elements that nowhere is safe once they threaten the peace of Nigerians,” Ejodame said.
Security analysts believe the strikes are part of a renewed push to deny insurgents freedom of movement in their traditional hideouts within the expansive Sambisa Forest. By disrupting their bases, the military hopes to further weaken the capacity of the groups to launch coordinated offensives.
Ejodame stressed that the success of the operation underscores the Air Force’s commitment to national security and its role in the joint effort to dismantle terrorist networks. “Every successful strike brings Nigeria closer to restoring lasting peace in the troubled region,” he added.
The latest offensive comes amid ongoing calls from communities in the North-East for sustained military pressure to finally end years of insurgency that have displaced thousands and disrupted livelihoods.
