Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Enduring Peace, have recorded major breakthroughs in Plateau State following operations that led to the neutralisation of three terrorists and the arrest of two suspects posing as security operatives. In a swift late-night response on Thursday, troops acted on a distress call over sporadic gunfire in Dutse Uku community in Jos North Local Government Area.According to a statement issued in Jos on Friday by the Media Information Officer of the operation, Captain Chinonso Polycarp Oteh, the soldiers intercepted and apprehended two suspects dressed in tactical black uniforms.

The suspects were allegedly involved in setting houses ablaze and coordinating violent attacks in the area. They are currently in military custody. The statement further disclosed that two individuals who sustained gunshot injuries during the incident were evacuated to a medical facility, where they are receiving treatment and are in stable condition. It also noted that the arrests have countered claims alleging military involvement in the recent unrest in Jos North, stressing that criminal elements have been disguising themselves in security attire to carry out attacks and discredit the Armed Forces. In a separate operation at Karem in Wase Local Government Area, troops disrupted the movement of a large group of terrorists riding on motorcycles. The suspects reportedly engaged soldiers in a brief exchange of fire before fleeing, with three of them neutralised in the process. The development comes hours after the Chief of Army Staff ordered the deployment of a battalion alongside specialised counter-terrorism units to Plateau State on Thursday morning.Military authorities described the deployment as a major boost to ongoing security operations, strengthening proactive control in volatile communities across the state.Reaffirming their commitment, the troops vowed to intensify operations against insurgents, criminal gangs and other elements threatening public peace.“Troops of Operation Enduring Peace remain resolute in their mission to eliminate all threats to public safety,” the statement added. The military also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or movements to the nearest security agencies.
