President Bola Tinubu traveled to Plateau state on Wednesday to meet with families mourning victims of a deadly Palm Sunday attack, invoking the symbolism of his campaign cap’s infinity sign as a pledge to end cycles of violence, poverty, and despair.
“Politically, I brought this symbol to break the shackle of violence, the shackle of ignorance, the shackle of poverty, the shackle of hopelessness,” he told the bereaved.
The visit comes amid mounting pressure on his administration to protect religious minorities in the country’s volatile Middle Belt region.
