2027: Yari Only Justifying His APC Appointment, Says ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari of making unrealistic political projections in an attempt to justify his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Yari was trying to impress President Bola Tinubu following his appointment.

“He’s one of those lying to the President,” Abdullahi said.
“We understand he needs to justify his new appointment,” he added.
Yari had expressed confidence that Tinubu would win the 2027 presidential election and predicted that the APC would remain in power beyond the President’s possible second term.

Reacting to the prediction, Abdullahi recalled similar claims by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the past, when the party boasted that it would rule Nigeria for decades.

“But what happened? At least, the PDP was a real political party, not this SPV (Special Purpose Vehicle),” he said.
The ADC spokesman’s comments came amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections and renewed opposition efforts to challenge the APC at the presidential level.

Domestic Petrol Supply Drops 20.6% to 25.8m Litres Daily — NMDPRA

Nigeria’s average daily petrol supply from domestic refineries fell by 20.6 per cent in July 2026, dropping to 25.8 million litres from 32.5 million litres recorded in June, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

The latest monthly oil and gas data released by the regulator showed that the decline in domestic supply was partly offset by an increase in imported petrol.
Imported petrol rose to 19.7 million litres per day in July from 18.1 million litres in June.

Despite the increase in imports, combined petrol supply fell to 45.5 million litres per day in July, representing a 10.1 per cent decline from the 50.6 million litres supplied daily in June.
The July decline marked the second consecutive monthly fall in total petrol supply.

Domestic supply had risen from 40.1 million litres per day in January to 41.5 million litres in May before declining sharply to 32.5 million litres in June and 25.8 million litres in July.

The July figure was the lowest domestic supply recorded during the first seven months of 2026 and was 37.1 per cent below the January level.
Imported petrol, however, recorded a different pattern.

Imports stood at 24.8 million litres daily in January before plunging to three million litres in February. They subsequently increased to 5.9 million litres in March and fell again to 3.7 million litres in April.

Imports rose to 5.9 million litres in May before jumping to 18.1 million litres in June. They increased further to 19.7 million litres in July.

Overall, total petrol supply averaged 64.9 million litres daily in January before falling to 32.4 million litres in February. Supply recovered gradually to 40.1 million litres in March, 44.4 million litres in April, 47.4 million litres in May and 50.6 million litres in June.

In July, domestic refineries accounted for 25.8 million litres, representing 56.7 per cent of total supply, while imports contributed 19.7 million litres, or 43.3 per cent.

PDP Tells Yari: Don’t Get Carried Away by Tinubu’s Appointment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari against becoming carried away by his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.
The PDP was reacting to Yari’s claim that the APC would retain the presidency beyond 2031.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, said Yari should concentrate on delivering the responsibility entrusted to him by President Bola Tinubu rather than making predictions about elections several years away.

“I think the Senator is simply being overzealous with the appointment given to him by Mr President as Director-General,” Mohammed said.
“At the moment, he should focus more on how he can deliver on the mandate given to him before talking about 2031. For now, he should concentrate on that rather than making statements that are not even right.”

He rejected suggestions that opposition parties had conceded the 2027 election or the presidency beyond 2031 to the APC.

“As to whether the opposition has already conceded 2027 to Mr President or is even conceding power to the APC beyond 2031, no, no, no, not at all,” he said.

“That is a topic for discussion another day. For now, we are mainly concentrating on the forthcoming elections.”

Mohammed also advised Yari not to allow his new appointment to affect his judgment.

“He should not be overwhelmed by this singular honour given to him by the President. He should relax, concentrate and focus on the mandate given to him by Mr President,” he added.

Yari had made the projection while speaking at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja after returning from an overseas trip.
