Nigeria’s crude oil production, excluding condensates, declined by 37,000 barrels per day, bpd, to 1.546 million bpd in July 2026 from 1.583 million bpd in June, according to the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC.
The latest figures, contained in OPEC’s Monthly Oil Market Report, represent a 2.3 per cent month-on-month decline in Nigeria’s crude output.
OPEC data showed that the country’s production increased from an average of 1.453 million bpd in the first quarter of 2026 to 1.552 million bpd in the second quarter.
Production averaged 1.554 million bpd in May before rising to 1.583 million bpd in June, its highest monthly level during the period under review, and then falling to 1.546 million bpd in July.
However, figures obtained through direct communication from OPEC member countries showed a sharper decline, with Nigeria’s production falling by 50,000 bpd from 1.555 million bpd in June to 1.505 million bpd in July.
At the wider OPEC level, crude production based on secondary sources increased by 1.659 million bpd to 23.632 million bpd in July from 21.973 million bpd in June
Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait recorded the largest increases, at 665,000 bpd, 590,000 bpd and 393,000 bpd respectively.
Total crude production by OPEC Declaration of Cooperation, DoC, countries rose by 1.424 million bpd to 37.655 million bpd in July from 36.232 million bpd in June.
Non-OPEC DoC producers, however, recorded a decline of 235,000 bpd, with output falling from 14.259 million bpd to 14.024 million bpd.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC, reported that Nigeria’s total oil production, including condensates, fell by four per cent in July to 1.67 million bpd from 1.74 million bpd in June.
NUPRC said the country produced 1.505 million bpd of crude and 0.17 million bpd of condensates during the month.
The regulator attributed the decline to operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo fields, which affected production during the period.
