Three Vigilantes Killed in Midnight Attack on Plateau Community

Three members of a local vigilante group have been killed after gunmen attacked a civilian security post at Gwa Rim community in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attack reportedly occurred around 2am on Wednesday when the gunmen opened fire on the vigilantes who were keeping watch at the community guard post.

A resident of Riyom, Damba Dang, who confirmed the incident, said the attackers struck while residents were asleep.

He said three local security guards were killed in the attack.
Dang expressed concern over renewed attacks on communities in the area, saying residents were increasingly worried about their safety.

He described the killing of the vigilantes as particularly disturbing because they were providing security for their community and assisting in protecting residents from attacks.

He appealed to security agencies to strengthen their presence around Gwa Rim and other vulnerable communities in Riyom.

Dang also urged security operatives to investigate the incident, track down the attackers and ensure that those responsible were brought to justice
