The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State, Benjamin Omale, has said Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration has executed infrastructure and other development projects worth more than N100 billion in the Benue South Senatorial District.
Omale disclosed this while representing Governor Alia at the first Annual Convention of the Idoma Community in London, United Kingdom.
He said the administration had also committed hundreds of billions of naira to infrastructure in Benue North-West and Benue North-East, describing the investments as evidence of the governor’s commitment to balanced development.
According to him, three major road projects in Benue South alone have a combined contract value of about N74.86 billion.
They include the 52-kilometre Oju-Awajir Road, valued at N25.59 billion; the 31.36-kilometre Igumale-Agila Road in Ado Local Government Area, valued at N19.37 billion; and the 43.5-kilometre Obagaji-Okokolo-Agagbe Road, valued at N29.89 billion.
Omale said the projects cover several local government areas across the senatorial district.
He also cited the construction and renovation of 25 primary healthcare centres across Ohimini, Otukpo, Okpokwu, Obi and Oju local government areas.
He added that the administration had implemented infrastructure interventions in 29 schools across the zone.
Five schools in the senatorial district were also selected under the 2025 Matching Grant Programme, with beneficiary schools spread across Otukpo, Okpokwu, Ogbadibo, Obi, Ado, Agatu, Apa, Ohimini and Oju local government areas.
Omale said the projects had strengthened public confidence in the administration and expressed optimism that residents would support Alia’s re-election bid in 2027.
He commended the governor for promoting unity, peace, inclusive development and stronger engagement with the Idoma diaspora.
“This historic convention is a powerful platform for preserving our heritage, strengthening unity, empowering our youth and connecting the diaspora with our homeland. Together, let us build a stronger, more united and prosperous Idoma people at home and abroad,” he said.
Omale urged Idoma people at home and abroad to support the governor’s re-election, arguing that a renewed mandate would enable the administration to consolidate and expand its development projects.
He also called for political differences to be set aside in the interest of sustaining development in the state.
