In a decisive move to curb the menace of armed banditry and the activities of the proscribed Lakurawa group, Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has engaged the services of an international security organization to strengthen the state’s security operations.
The governor’s decision marks a new phase in Kebbi’s fight against insecurity, which has disrupted communities and livelihoods across parts of the state.
Speaking in Birnin Kebbi, the head of Gsafety, a China-based security consulting firm, Ahmed Sale Junior, said the company operates in more than 36 countries worldwide, specializing in advanced intelligence gathering and digital security systems designed to neutralize armed threats.
According to him, the firm’s assignment in Kebbi will involve close collaboration with existing federal and local security agencies—from the state down to the ward level—in areas affected by bandit attacks.
“We will deploy high technology to collect and analyze vital data relating to the activities of armed bandits and Lakurawa. Our goal is to support ongoing security efforts through seamless integration of technological expertise,” Sale stated.
He added that while both the federal and state governments have made commendable efforts to address insecurity, the absence of modern technological tools has hindered their effectiveness.
“What we are bringing to Kebbi is the same high-tech approach we’ve successfully implemented in other countries. Our headquarters is in Beijing, China, and we are here to ensure that banditry is completely eradicated,” he assured.
The partnership is expected to enhance intelligence-driven operations, improve coordination among security agencies, and boost the overall safety of residents across Kebbi State.
