The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has petitioned the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, seeking urgent delivery of a Supreme Court judgment over its leadership crisis, warning that delay could jeopardize its participation in the 2027 general elections.
In a letter dated April 28 and signed by counsel to a faction led by David Mark, the party said it risks “grave and irreversible” exclusion from the polls if the apex court fails to deliver judgment within three days.
The party drew attention to the election timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stressing that its ability to comply with statutory requirements depends on the timely resolution of the dispute.
“My Lord, without the delivery of judgment within the next three days, the ADC stands the grave risk of being excluded from participating in the 2027 general elections,” the letter read.
The party argued that such an outcome would disenfranchise millions of its supporters and undermine their constitutional rights.
