At least seven persons have been killed and several others injured following a two-day attack by suspected armed herdsmen on a border community in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.
The attack, which affected Channel One community along the Arufu–Wukari road, forced residents to flee amid widespread panic.
A community leader said the assailants stormed the area in large numbers on motorcycles, shooting indiscriminately.
“Seven persons have been confirmed dead, while several others sustained life-threatening injuries,” the source said, warning that the death toll could rise.
He added that the attackers may be operating from nearby deserted settlements.
“There are suspicions they may be using Shaor as a hideout,” he said.
Local authorities confirmed the incident.
“They killed seven persons and injured four others. They usually come, attack and flee,” said the Chairman of Logo LGA, Clement Kav.
Residents have called for urgent security intervention to prevent further attacks.
“There is need for coordinated clearance operations and stronger border monitoring,” the source urged.
Police authorities said they were yet to receive full details of the incident.
