OSOGBO — Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied entering into any agreement with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to secure victory in last Saturday’s governorship election.
The denial followed a claim by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, that the party worked with the Accord Party to prevent the All Progressives Congress (APC) from winning the election.
However, Adeleke, through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Tuesday dismissed the claim, insisting that the ADC was not part of any political alliance that supported his re-election bid.
The governor attributed his victory to God and the people of Osun State, while commending political allies who he said worked to make the election a success.
Adeleke said, “I commend political partners who went all out to make Saturday a victory day for all Osun people. But we must clarify for the sake of history that ADC was never part of the alliance.”
He maintained that the ADC had no deal with him before, during or after the election.
The governor, who secured another term in office, said the conclusion of the election marked a new phase in which he would govern all residents of the state regardless of their political affiliations.
“Now that the election is over, I am a governor of all Osun people irrespective of political groups, religion or race,” Adeleke said.
He called on political actors to put the contest behind them and focus on the development of the state, while thanking those who supported his campaign and re-election.
