The Minister of Housing, Engr. Muttaqha Darma, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling Nigeria’s estimated 20 million housing deficit through the delivery of affordable homes.
Speaking during his assumption of office in Abuja, Darma described his leadership approach as collaborative, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Let me start by saying that we are all team players. We are in a team and we are set to win,” he said.
He added, “I’m just a captain of the team, not a boss. The captain leads but also takes instructions from the coach, and the President is our coach.”
Darma assured staff of an open-door policy, encouraging contributions from all levels within the ministry.
“As long as it is about moving the ministry forward, I will listen to everyone, no matter how they rate their ideas,” he stated.
He also pledged continuity in existing projects, particularly the ongoing 10,000 housing units initiative.
“We will not abandon it. We will improve on it in line with the President’s vision,” he said.
Earlier, Minister of State for Housing, Yusuf Ata, highlighted achievements recorded by the ministry, including housing projects across over 17 states and job creation exceeding 300,000 through large-scale developments in the FCT, Lagos, Kano, and other regions.
