The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Saturday confirmed that its Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out precision airstrikes on Friday targeting a terrorist enclave in the Southern Tumbuns area of Borno State, neutralising several insurgents.
According to the Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, the operation was conducted at about 6:50 p.m. over Ali Sheriffti, a location identified as a stronghold for terrorist elements.
He explained that the strike followed credible intelligence reports on insurgent activities in the area, prompting aerial surveillance that tracked movements of suspected fighters along concealed routes.
“The targets were trailed to structures hidden under dense foliage, indicating deliberate attempts to evade detection,” he said.
“Upon positive identification, NAF air assets executed a precise strike, engaging the targets with onboard munitions.”
Ejodame noted that the operation achieved its objective, with multiple structures destroyed and the terrorists’ operational capacity significantly degraded.
He added that the mission forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain pressure on insurgents and deny them safe havens.
Reaffirming the force’s commitment, the Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, said the NAF would continue to intensify intelligence-driven operations against terrorist networks.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to pursue and dismantle terrorist networks with unwavering precision and relentless force, ensuring no enclave remains beyond our reach,” he stated.
He further assured that operations would be scaled up to enhance security and protect lives and property across the country.
