The Plateau State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed three commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Caleb Mutfwang for appointment into the State Executive Council.
The nominees are Hon. Ishaku Maren from Bokkos Local Government Area, Prof. Gloria Karuri from Bassa Local Government Area and Comrade Prince Miaphen from Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.
During their screening, the nominees highlighted their professional backgrounds and pledged to deploy their experience and expertise towards the development of Plateau State if appointed.
Karuri, a clinical psychologist at the University of Jos, brings experience in clinical psychology and academic service, while Miaphen is a social crusader and public affairs commentator with experience in public engagement and advocacy.
Maren is a grassroots politician with extensive community-level engagement.
Following the screening exercise, the House adopted the prayers contained in the governor’s request and confirmed the three nominees as Commissioners-designate.
Speaker of the House, Hon. Naanlong Daniel, directed the Clerk to transmit a clean copy of the confirmation to the governor for further necessary action.
The Speaker commended lawmakers for their commitment and attendance despite their schedules, stressing the importance of their participation in the constitutional responsibility of screening and confirming members of the State Executive Council.
He also appreciated the contributions of members during the exercise, noting that the confirmation would enable the nominees to deploy their respective experiences towards the administration and development of the state.
