NNPP Expels Rep. Jibrin Kofa Over Anti-Party Allegations, Unpaid Dues

The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, over alleged anti-party activities and failure to pay his financial dues to the party.

State Chairman of the party, Hashim Dungurawa, announced the expulsion while briefing journalists in Kano on.

Dungurawa accused Kofa of repeatedly attacking the party and its leadership in the media, saying his political relevance rests solely on the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform.

“If he was truly strong, he would have won under the APC, but he failed. It was through Kwankwasiyya and NNPP that he became a House of Reps member. Now he deceives himself into thinking he is politically strong,” Dungurawa said.

The chairman disclosed that a reconciliation committee was initially set up after Kofa’s interview on Channels Television, but claimed the lawmaker worsened matters by publicly declaring loyalty outside the party.

“Instead of embracing dialogue, he went further to undermine our interest. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add,” Dungurawa stated.

He further alleged that Kofa defaulted on mandatory party dues, warning that NNPP would pursue legal action to recover the arrears.

“We will drag him to court. It is constitutional for every member to pay dues, but he has consistently failed to do so,” he added.

On speculations about Kofa’s possible return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dungurawa said such a move would not shake the NNPP, stressing that the Kwankwasiyya movement remains firmly behind its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

It will be recalled that the NNPP recently suspended four lawmakers — Senator Kawu Sumaila (Kano South), Kabiru Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya), Ali Madakin Gini (Dala), and Sani Abdullahi Rogo (Rogo/Karaye) — also over alleged anti-party activities.
