ABUJA — The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, on Thursday convened an emergency meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of tactical units, issuing a strong warning against misconduct within the ranks.
At the meeting, the CP stressed the need for officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties, cautioning against actions capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force and the FCT Command.
He reiterated the importance of strict compliance with existing human rights laws and directed all senior officers to return to their respective jurisdictions to brief and sensitise their subordinates on the new directives.
According to a statement by the Command, the officers are also required to submit detailed compliance reports to the headquarters in line with the mandate of the Inspector-General of Police.
Sanusi warned that any senior officer would be held accountable for the misconduct of subordinates under their supervision.
In a move aimed at improving discipline and operational effectiveness, the CP further directed the Command’s Medical Director, ACP (Dr.) Ifayase Olabanji Akinola, alongside the Police Counselling Unit, to commence a comprehensive mental and psychological evaluation of all personnel.
The assessment, scheduled to begin with junior officers on Monday, May 4, 2026, is designed to promote emotional stability, sound decision-making, and improved performance both on and off duty.
The Command also urged residents to remain law-abiding and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines: 08032003193 and 08061581938.
