Police Arrest Security Guard Over Alleged Sexual Assault of Eight-Year-Old in Calabar

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a 37-year-old security guard, Ndifreke Godwin, over the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old girl in Calabar Municipality.

The incident reportedly occurred along Tinapa Road and was reported to the police on August 29, 2026, by the victim’s mother.

Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, ASP Eitokpah Sunday, said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly lured the child to his residence with a promise of giving her money before allegedly assaulting her.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the minor to his residence under the pretext of giving her money, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her,” the statement said.

The victim has been issued a medical form for examination and treatment, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

“The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet and comprehensive investigation,” Eitokpah said.

The police command assured the public that the suspect would be accorded due process and that appropriate legal action would follow the outcome of the investigation.

“The Command assures the public that the suspect will be accorded due process and that appropriate legal action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” he added.
