Murtala Sule Garo has been sworn in as the new Deputy Governor of Kano State.
The swearing-in ceremony was held in Kano on Tuesday and was presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, while the oath of office was administered by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Dije Aboki.
After being sworn in, Garo thanked the governor and assured him of his full support and commitment to the administration.
He also assured the people of Kano State of his continued dedication to serving them.
“I want to assure the people of Kano State that I am dedicated to serving you. This is a time for unity and steady progress. I will support the government’s vision and work to ensure its policies bring meaningful results,” he said.
Also speaking, Governor Yusuf said Garo’s appointment was a deliberate move to strengthen unity, build on existing achievements, and maintain stability in the state.
The governor explained that the decision followed broad consultations and was guided by the need for inclusiveness and effective leadership.
According to him, Garo’s experience makes him fit for the position.
Gov Yusuf also called on the new deputy governor to remain fully loyal and work closely with the administration.
The event attracted several top political figures, including former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former governor Ibrahim Shekarau, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin.
Also present were the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Ismail Falgore, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II.
Garo’s emergence follows the resignation of the former deputy governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo.
Recall that Gwarzo stepped down from the position after Governor Yusuf defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
