Plateau Killings: Mutfwang Orders Intensified Security in Mangu

Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has directed security agencies to intensify surveillance and patrols in Mangu Local Government Area following the killing of 24 people in Bin-Per community.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday in Bin-Per, Kombun District, leaving several residents dead and others injured, while homes and farmlands were reportedly destroyed.
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the Plateau State Government condemned the attack.

The government described the incident as a disturbing development capable of undermining the peace being consolidated across the state.
Mutfwang commiserated with the families of the victims and urged residents to remain calm and avoid reprisals.

He also appealed to residents to provide security agencies with credible information that could assist in identifying and arresting those responsible.

The government said security agencies had been directed to increase surveillance and patrols in Bin-Per, Kombun District and other vulnerable communities in Mangu.

“Furthermore, the Governor has called on the relevant security agencies to intensify surveillance and patrols in Bin Mper, Kombun District and other vulnerable communities in Mangu LGA,” the statement said.

The government also urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding while reporting suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.

It reiterated that the protection of lives and property remained a priority of the Mutfwang administration.
The state government said it would continue working with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth organisations, religious leaders and security agencies to strengthen peaceful coexistence.

It further appealed to residents of Bin-Per and neighbouring communities to reject reprisal attacks and cooperate with security personnel as investigations into the incident continue.
