The Kaduna State Police Command, working with the Kaduna State Vigilance Service, has dismantled two suspected bandit hideouts in Makarfi Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted at the weekend, followed intelligence provided by residents about the activities of suspected bandits operating around the Durum and Danguzuri areas, extending towards the boundary with Kano State.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the joint security team engaged the suspected bandits during a clearance operation that resulted in the destruction of their hideouts.
According to the command, two structures allegedly used by the criminals to hold abducted victims were destroyed at Rugar Mijin Goggo and Unguwar Maryamu in Danguzuri.
The police said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and protect residents and property across the state.
It added that joint security patrols remained ongoing in the area and that normalcy had returned.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended residents for providing information that helped security personnel carry out the operation.
He also praised the officers and other security personnel for their efforts and reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain its offensive against banditry and other forms of criminality.
The police urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
