Troops Neutralise Over 30 Terrorists After Attack on Borno Community
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, with support from the Nigerian Air Force, have eliminated more than 30 Boko Haram fighters following a deadly assault on Darajamal community in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security and local sources confirmed that dozens of civilians were killed when the insurgents invaded the newly resettled community on Friday night, firing indiscriminately and forcing residents to flee into surrounding bushes.
Darajamal, located between Banki and Bama, was recently reconstructed by the Borno State government after years of abandonment due to insurgency.
According to a military source, troops swiftly mobilised after receiving distress calls from the area. Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft tracked the fleeing terrorists before engaging them with successive airstrikes.
“Over 30 insurgents were neutralised in the strikes, while ground troops moved in to secure the community,” the source revealed, adding that the coordinated operation prevented the attackers from regrouping and forced survivors to retreat into Sambisa Forest.
Following the attack, Governor Babagana Zulum, alongside security officials, visited Darajamal on Saturday to assess the situation and reassure displaced residents.
