Gunmen have abducted a woman, Mrs. Adetutuj in Aderibigbe, at her residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, after reportedly trailing her home.
The incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on April 8 in the Bolumole area, off Ring Road, where the victim was said to have been attacked at the gate of her house while attempting to gain entry.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that four masked men accosted her and whisked her away in an unregistered black Lexus vehicle.
A family member present at the scene was left unharmed.Initial reports had suggested that the abduction occurred on the road and involved damage to the victim’s vehicle.
However, further findings revealed that the attackers had followed her to her residence before carrying out the operation.Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said the command responded swiftly after receiving a distress report.
According to him, the case was immediately escalated to relevant tactical units, with detectives deployed to the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
He disclosed that the area had been forensically examined, with critical evidence recovered to aid ongoing investigations, while surveillance and intelligence efforts have been intensified to track down the perpetrators.
The police assured residents that all necessary measures are being taken to secure the victim’s safe release and bring those responsible to justice.
Ayanlade urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could assist in the rescue operation, adding that updates would be communicated as investigations progress.
