NELFUND Urges Varsities to Expedite Verification for Faster Loan Disbursement

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has appealed to tertiary institutions nationwide to speed up the verification and approval of students’ loan applications, stressing that institutional delays are hindering the timely release of funds.

According to the Fund, several prospective beneficiaries have lodged complaints that slow verification by their schools — a mandatory requirement in the loan application process — is delaying the disbursement of tuition fees and upkeep allowances.

“NELFUND believes that once institutions prioritise quick verification and approval of successfully completed applications, beneficiaries will receive their fees as and when due without challenges,” the Fund stated in a release signed by its Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi.

Meanwhile, NELFUND has announced the relocation of its headquarters to a permanent office in Abuja. Effective September 5, 2025, all correspondence and visits will be directed to: House 12, Plot 103/104, Monrovia Street, Wuse 2, Opposite Bon Hotel, Abuja, FCT.

The agency assured stakeholders that the relocation would not disrupt its services.
“We remain fully operational and committed to our mandate of providing affordable education loans and support to Nigerian students across the country,” the statement added.

NELFUND further noted that its official communication channels remain unchanged. The Fund can be reached via:
