The highly anticipated 11th season of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) officially commenced on Sunday night, with 24 housemates entering the iconic house to compete for the coveted ₦160 million grand prize.
Tagged “Show Yourself,” the new season was unveiled during a live premiere hosted by longtime presenter Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. The show is being broadcast live on DStv Channel 198 and GOtv Channel 49 and is expected to run for 10 weeks.
The housemates, drawn from different backgrounds, made their grand entrance with promises of entertainment, strategy, and authenticity as they begin their quest for fame and the grand prize.
Among the first contestants introduced was Tram, who described himself as a “Gen Z Maverick.” He was followed by Temi Nkem, a 21-year-old model raised in London, and Martins, a visual storyteller who said he intends to bring “pride and authenticity” to the competition.
Other contestants unveiled during the premiere include Abisola, Chisom, Chuka, Keivo, Mercede, Kamsy, Sultex, Aikou, Flora, Bells, Gerard, Oyin, Sheba, Araga, Ricky, Nomy, Barry, Neche, Yusuf, Goddessa, Bluethopia and Kasy.
Organisers indicated that the lineup could still be expanded as the season unfolds.
The eventual winner will walk away with a prize package worth ₦160 million, comprising ₦100 million in cash, a brand-new SUV, and other rewards from the show’s sponsors.
Since its debut in 2006, Big Brother Naija has evolved into one of Africa’s most successful reality television franchises, producing stars in entertainment, business, fashion and media while attracting millions of viewers across the continent.
With the theme “Show Yourself,” the new season is expected to challenge contestants to reveal their true personalities as they navigate friendships, rivalries, weekly tasks and evictions in pursuit of the ultimate prize.
