By Ruth Abani The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the first batch of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), with 632,788 candidates who sat for the exam on the opening day now able to access their scores.
In a statement issued Friday night, JAMB announced that candidates who wrote the examination on Thursday, April 16, can check their results via SMS by sending “UTMERESULT” to 55019 or 66019 using the phone numbers linked to their registration.
JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, clarified that candidates can currently only view their scores, noting that the option to print result slips will be activated later.
“The results of candidates who sat the 2026 UTME on Thursday, April 16, have been released and are available for viewing.
Candidates are to send UTMERESULT via SMS to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used during registration.
At this stage, printing is not yet available,” the statement said.
The 2026 UTME, which commenced on April 16, is scheduled to run until April 22 at centres nationwide, with additional results to be released in phases.
Meanwhile, the Board has issued a stern warning against the falsification or manipulation of examination scores, describing such acts as criminal offences.
JAMB disclosed that two candidates and a parent have already been arrested for allegedly altering UTME results using artificial intelligence and other digital tools.
It warned that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Benjamin reiterated the Board’s zero-tolerance stance on examination malpractice, stressing that offenders would face strict legal consequences.
