Easter: Police Intensify Security Across Lagos, Assure Residents of Safety
The Lagos State Police Command has announced a large-scale deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the Easter celebrations to ensure maximum security.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, said the proactive measures are designed to guarantee a peaceful, safe and hitch-free celebration for residents and visitors before, during and after the festivities.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the command said the deployment covers key locations, including worship centres, recreational facilities, major highways, transport hubs and other critical infrastructure.
The statement added that special security arrangements have been made for riverine communities, with the Marine Police strategically positioned to patrol waterways, enhance surveillance and prevent criminal activities.
The command also disclosed that it is collaborating with relevant agencies to implement traffic control measures aimed at ensuring the free flow of movement throughout the festive period.
While extending Easter greetings to Christians, CP Fatai urged residents to embrace the values of love, sacrifice and peaceful coexistence associated with the season.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to the protection of lives and property and stressed the need for continued cooperation between the police and the public.
The commissioner also called on residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly to security agencies.
