The Yobe State Executive Council has approved projects worth ₦59.8 billion aimed at accelerating infrastructure and economic development across the state.
The approvals were ratified at a council meeting presided over by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni.
Briefing journalists, Commissioner for Information, Abdullahi Bego, said the funds would cover key sectors including roads, healthcare, energy, commerce, and sports.
“A total of ₦59.8 billion was ratified for projects designed to improve the living conditions of the people,” he said.
According to him, ₦34.1 billion was allocated to road construction, including major highways linking several local government areas.
He added that ₦8.58 billion would fund modern markets, while ₦5.34 billion was earmarked for power infrastructure and solar street lighting across 11 local governments.
“In the healthcare sector, ₦5.54 billion was approved for hospital upgrades, construction of new facilities, and installation of medical equipment,” Bego stated.
The council also approved funds for upgrading sports infrastructure, including the reconstruction of the 27 August Stadium.
