Nasarawa Police Rescue Abducted Newborn, Arrest Two Suspects
The Nasarawa State Police Command has rescued a three-day-old baby boy who was abducted in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area, and arrested two suspects linked to the crime.
The rescue was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Ramhan Nansel, who disclosed that the incident was reported on March 29, 2026, at about 5:45 a.m.

According to the statement, the mother of the child, 19-year-old Aisha Bada of Unguwan Bako, Orange Market, had reported to the police that unknown persons abducted her newborn.
She explained that her husband, Abubakar Isah, a commercial tricycle rider, had travelled to Lagos about five months earlier, leaving her alone with the baby.
The police said the victim narrated that on March 28 at about 11:50 p.m., while she was asleep with her three-day-old baby in an uncompleted building at the outskirts of Unguwan Bawa, two unidentified men broke into the house, threatened her, and made away with the infant.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, directed detectives from Mararaba ‘A’ Division to launch an immediate investigation.
Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrested two suspects—Furera Abdulrahman, 35, of Rugan Juli, and Sadiya Abdullahi, 39, of Unguwan Bako—at about 4:00 a.m. on April 3, 2026.
The abducted baby was found in their possession and successfully rescued. The suspects reportedly confessed to the crime and implicated another accomplice who is currently on the run.
Police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The baby was taken to the Medical Centre in Mararaba, where he was examined by a doctor, certified healthy, and subsequently reunited with his parents.
The Command added that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Lafia for further investigation after preliminary inquiries.
It also reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities.
