The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilised over 57,000 personnel across the country to ensure a safe and peaceful Easter celebration.Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, approved the nationwide deployment, which spans all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as part of proactive measures to forestall security threats during the festive period.Confirming the development in a statement, the Corps’ National Public Relations Officer, ACC Afolabi Babawale, said the operation involves specialised tactical units and intelligence operatives tasked with strengthening security and protecting citizens.According to him, the deployment will prioritise the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, alongside general public safety.He added that Zonal Commanders, State Commandants and Provosts have been directed to ensure effective supervision within their areas of responsibility.Babawale noted that security would be intensified at high-traffic locations, including churches, shopping malls, parks and recreational centres, with a combination of visible patrols and covert operations to deter criminal activities.The NSCDC boss stressed the importance of collaboration with other security agencies, saying the success of the operation depends on coordinated efforts and prompt response to public information.“Our objective is to guarantee a hitch-free Easter celebration. We are working closely with sister agencies to sustain law and order.Parents and guardians are also advised to properly guide their children against being used to disrupt public peace,” Audi said.He further disclosed that elite units such as the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Mining Marshals, Special Female Squad and the Crack Squad have been placed on high alert to respond swiftly to any security threats.
