…Says APC leadership will decide his political path
Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has dismissed claims that he has unveiled his next political move ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to speculations following his appearance on TVC’s Beyond The Headlines anchored by Nifemi Oguntoye, Obasa clarified that he neither declared an ambition to run for governor nor for the Senate.
He emphasized that decisions regarding his political future — and that of other members — are the sole prerogative of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“As a politician, you must wait for the party hierarchy to determine where they want you to serve, whether as lawmaker, governor, or senator. People should not misinterpret the party’s plans. Let’s calm the tension. Our main focus is on how to move the country forward, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is making progress daily,” Obasa said.
While noting that he is not quitting politics anytime soon, the Speaker stressed the importance of balancing ambition with party discipline.
“At some point, you cannot solely decide your next step. Whether as Speaker, Deputy Governor, Governor or Senator, it all requires consultation and engagement with party leaders,” he added.
Obasa further noted that he remains conscious of life after public service, but reaffirmed his commitment to the APC, describing it as a growing and united political family.
