President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), resulting in the exit of two ministers and the appointment of their replacements.
A memo issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, confirmed that the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, will leave the cabinet.
Edun has been directed to hand over to Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated to serve as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
Oyedele previously served as Minister of State in the same ministry.
In the Housing Ministry, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named ministerial nominee and designated to take over, while Dangiwa is to hand over to the Minister of State pending Darma’s confirmation.
The memo instructed that all handover processes must be concluded on or before the close of work on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
Akume explained that the reshuffle is intended to enhance coordination within the cabinet and improve governance delivery in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in effecting the changes.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them well in their future endeavours, while assuring that efforts to strengthen his administration would continue.
